As a Native American woman, I am often drawn to the designs that are not only my heritage, but also my aesthetic. There has always been something about where I came from, even in design, that makes me proud and nostalgic for the pow wows and festivals I have been to my whole life. For this series, I took Native beadwork designs and paired them with backgrounds of many colors and patterns. It started with Celtic designs as there is a great history with the Choctaw Nation and with Ireland but escalated to my own color pallet and a few other floral designs. This is a series of about 100 pairs, I just couldn’t stop myself from being fascinated by the way the designs and colors worked with each other. Color pairing that changes the way we see the object as a whole as always been a passion of mine. All faux leather. 2021
